The Great Roots Forestry Spa Resort lies in the Dabao Creek area of Sanxia District, New Taipei City. The 20-hectare resort was once the largest tea factory in Taiwan, built during the Japanese colonial period, and has a history of nearly a century.
Inside the resort is a lodge that once served the Japanese imperial family. The gardens, fish ponds and forest trails are well planned, and the natural ecology has been very well preserved. As a result, the resort protects the only remaining patch of low-altitude primary tropical rainforest in Taiwan. You can enjoy the forest air, which is said to contain up to 20,000 ppm of phytoncides, good for body and mind.
Besides the natural scenery, the hotel has a carbonated hot spring of excellent quality. The water is gentle on the skin and is also called the “beauty spring”, so a visit leaves you feeling healthy inside and out.
